The study states that it estimated "the economic impact of bicycle recreation and tourism in Wisconsin to be $924,211,000, and the total potential value of health benefits from reducing short car trips and increasing bicycle trips to total $409,944,167." It built on a 2006 study that focused on bicycle manufacturing and services, which estimated that they contributed over a $500 million to the state's economy. As it states in its conclusion, "When combined with the
economic impact from manufacturing sales and services as calculated in 2006 by the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the combined potential value of bicycling in Wisconsin totals nearly $2 billion."

I'm just a nerd, not an economist, so I don't know how the figures get added up, but maybe they counted the income + Wisconsin payroll + Wisconsin expenses instead of total revenue. Maybe there's a combined total of $800 million (or whatever) in sales, but half of that goes straight to Taiwan.

Pacific is big, but a lot of their revenue goes to Canada, right?
